
Marguerite Gérard (1761–1837) was a painter and printmaker who is known for her sensitive portraits and genre scenes. Gérard was Fragonard’s sister-in-law, she moved to live with Fragonard and his wife, Marie-Anne, in Paris around 1775, when she was a teenager.
