Pino Spagnolo, Design Drawing for a melon scoop, 1991. Pencil, metallic pigment, felt-tip pen and airbrush
In the 1990s many Italian designers were preoccupied with designing kitchen and table wares. These included such items as coffee pots, oil drizzlers and salt and pepper sets. Spagnolo has specialised in designing such products. This melon scoop is typical of the Italian interest in using plastics for tableware at this time. They were usually brightly coloured, though neatly designed. In their bright colours they show the influence of postmodernism.
