The Dining room in the Director’s house, Dessau, 1930,
Transforming the house, Gropius designed, Mies and his collaborator Lilly Reich dramatically pared down the space, camouflaging Gropius built-in elements such as the radiator and serving buffet to create an austere interior comprised of broad unbroken surface planes of contrasting textures. the sole furnishings are a table and four chairs designed by Mies and Reich.
