Paul Klee in his studio in the Master’s house in Dessau, 1926. It was a double residence he did share with Kandinsky. It was decorated to its occupant’s taste. Klee used color to demarcate the function of the walls: he painted his canvases on the black wall and exhibited finished work on the white wall. Photograph: Lucia Moholy.
