Oskar Schlemmer, Bauhaus Weimar, Postcard for an exhibition, 1923

Exhibit label text: “For this postcard on the occasion of the exhibition celebrating the Bauhaus school’s fifth aniversary, Schlemmer used spare, geometric, typographic elements to construct a human head. Teige traveled to Germany to see the exhibition, and met the architect Walter Gropius, the school’s director. Gropius’ functionalist apprach to architecture and design resonated in Teige’s work.”
