“Josef Hoffmann designed this lamp when the shift from gas to electricity was challenging designers to effectively utilize the new technology. He chose not to shade the light source, as table lamps conventionally do, and further drew attention to the naked bulbs by echoing their shape in the suspended glass spheres, which, like the shimmering hammered surfaces, catch and reflect the light.”
